How to research domain names...
This blog is still very new, very very new, but if I have any readers I have some advice for you. Always do your research, never ever buy a domain without doing research, but you're probably asking "how do I do research on a domain name?" Well my friends that's where I come in. As I and still new to the game myself I will share with you if you of the tools I use as a beginner to find and research quality domain names.
1. Estibot.com
One of the things I like most about estibot.com are the statistics and provide, these statistics, if used correctly can help you spot a winning domain. However you must be very careful when reading the stats. Make sure not to take the appraisal value to seriously as automatic appraisals of domains are never very accurate. One of the most important stats that estibot provides is overture/month which is a measure of the average number of times per month a keyword, or set of keywords to search. Another important stat is frequently, that is the number of times a keyword, or set of keywords appears in search engine results. Estibot gives the frequency numbers for the big three search engines (Google, Yahoo and MSN)
2. Namebio.com
Namebio.com is a database of reported domain sales; I use this tool to research past sales of similar domain names so that I can get an idea of a particular domain’s value.
3. Freshdrop.net
Freshdrop.net is a domain name filtering tool which I use to filter through TDNAM (the domain name aftermarket, a service provided by godaddy.com listings expiring and for-sale domain names)
4.
NamePros.com
As I've mentioned before NamePros.com is a wonderful resource for any new Domainer or experienced Domainer for that matter. As a beginner before you even consider buying a domain name I strongly suggest you join NamePros and read as much as you can about domaining and domain names.
In closing read, study and learn as much you can before investing in domains!
Happy holidays to all,
Kevin
